THE UNIFORMS WE CHOOSE
As children or teenagers we have experienced the uniform as a constraint and as an attack on our identity, and now, as working adults, we want nothing more than not having to spend one hour per day of thinking what to wear.
In the book on uniforms published in 2009, Bill Dun argues, that “school uniform actually promotes creativity and imagination, because the blank canvas of a uniform encourages a kids’ innate ability to rebel” and even though I have never thought of it that way before reading this book - I must agree.
Whatever school I went to, whatever the uniform was, I would always find a way of not wearing it. Customising it, cropping it and making it my own.
Famously refusing to wear skirts and instead opting for red trousers so this way I could still argue that “I’m conforming with the school colours” when stopped in the hallway by principal, or playing my absolute favourite “boys don't have to wear skirts” card.
Many years forward and I cannot help but see a personal uniform only as a form of liberation.
And no, I am not talking of boring, ugly, dated uniforms. I am talking about easy to wear, cool, minimal styling required, your own personal uniform, that you are excited to wear every day, because the decision fatigue these days is REAL.
How many times you have packed 10 outfits for a holiday, but wore the same 2 all the time? How many evenings have you scrolled Netflix for 45 minutes only to end up picking something you’ve seen already?
II would dare to assume, that you've also been there before...
If we come back to the earlier argument about "uniform as a blank canvas", it must be mentioned, that the new TracksuitBae Uniforms are the absolute hottest and coolest "canvas", that you could find. If I may say so myself.
It is giving that completely blank “painting” in a large gallery, that sells for millions because a good blank canvas is a piece of art and so is our Ultimate BAE T-shirt.
Any good uniform starts with a blank canvas. Therefore, for this drop, we have curated 8 ready to grab-and-go UNIFORMS, that you can style up or down, or don't style at all, because quality shape and fit are already doing all the work.
They require a very minimal effort and make a maximum impact.
This is the kind of uniform you wake up excited to wear every day.
This is the UNIFORM WE CHOOSE.
